Randy Ordway was born and raised in
rural mid-Michigan. He attended the
James Madison College at Michigan State
University, graduating in 1981 with a
B.A. in socio-economics. He entered
Wayne State Law School in the fall of
the same year, graduating in 1984.
During most of his time in law school,
Mr. Ordway was employed as a law clerk
with a large Detroit firm, where he
gained invaluable, practical experience
to bolster his legal education.
Mr. Ordway joined Powers Chapman in
1986. His career has focused on civil
litigation in various substantive areas
of law. Since 1994, his primary
responsibility has been managing a team
of attorneys serving the firm's largest
client base: members of the legal
service program, LegalShield. Randy has
been a Powers Chapman partner for many
years, is a Senior V.P. of the firm and
managing partner of the firm's
LegalShield division.
It is Mr. Ordway's professional belief
that a good attorney is made up of more
than legal competency. He believes
empathy, trustworthiness, and compassion
are crucial elements of the formula as
well. The human factors associated with
the attorney-client relationship are as
important as technical expertise. The
latter is taught in law school. The
former is learned "on the job." Mr.
Ordway is very grateful for the
opportunity he has been afforded in his
career, to be of service to others.
